On July 15, 1893, Kristina (Christine) was born in the village of Flasta, Arbra parish, Gavleborg lan, Sweden. She was the daughter of Anna Bynlan and Olof Nystrom.

Anna Byman was the daughter of Gustaf Adolf Byman and he was born in the parish of Enanger on February 11, 1835. Anna’s mother died June 16, 1879, while Anna was still young, and her father died August 21, 1892 in the Arbra parish. At that time Anna began doing housework as a means of livelihood. Olof Nystrom was born February 7, 1833 at Arbra. They made their home in Flasta. Christine was two years old when her mother died and eight when her father died. She was home alone with her father when he became sick and went to the neighbors for help. He died of a heart attack on June 16, 1902. At that time she went to live with her brother Eric Olsson Risberg and his wife Anna. They never legally adopted her but raised her as their own. Christine used the name Nystrom usually, but occasionally did use Risberg. She received an inheritance after her father’s death and Erick and Anna received a monthly payment for her care. They immigrated to the United States in 1903 aboard the ship Germanic.

Christine made her home with Erick and Anna until her marriage in 1915. She and Arvid were married at his father’s farm near Coteau, North Dakota. He was born October 17, 1889 in Sweden.

After their marriage they homesteaded 160 acres (NW 1/4, Section 21) of Parshall Township, Mountrail County, North Dakota. Here their three Sons were born, Walter, Clarence and Allen. While living here they were members of the First Lutheran Church of Parshall.

Arvid died unexpectedly on November 3, 1921 at Parshall. Funeral services were held on November 5 at the First Lutheran Church. Interment was at the Parshall Community Cemetery.

Christine and her Sons moved to Montana around 1940. She made her home here until her death on May 28, 1971 at Great Falls (Cascade County). Funeral services were held on June 1 and interment was at the Highland Cemetery in Great Falls.
